Returning to the society : 117 former addicts to work in Felda plantations

A total of 117 ex-drug addicts nationwide will return to society as workers in various agricultural plantations.

The National Anti-Drugs Agency director-general Datuk Abd Bakir Zin said that this would help the former drug addicts to obtain certain skills to enable them to return to the workforce.

He said they would be given farming tasks and further training would also be provided.

Last year, 30 ex-drug addicts were hired by Guthrie Sdn Bhd to work in its plantations.

The programmes would be targeted at educating society on the dangers of drug abuse.

Drug addicts are a problem to society and we hope to achieve our vision of becoming a drug-free country by 2015. There are about 7,000 drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation in 28 Pusat Serenti centres nationwide.
